CSSM MB Summer Missionary Manual - Bible Lessons 3
CAMP BIBLE LESSONS
III. How to Present the Lesson
(If you have prepared well, this should be the easy part)
A. Be positive (Settling down after activities can be a challenge)
1 .Your enthusiasm should be as evident for the Bible study time as it is for the other activities
B. Begin with prayer
C. Make sure everyone is situated so you have eye contact with them
D. Get Bibles and camp notes ready for the study (Idea- If you keep the books camper won't lose them. Put their names on their books)
E. Read over the Scripture Lesson -
1. Let campers read if they are able- if not, do it yourself especially with the longer ones
F. Note: each lesson is divided into four or five different headings with questions under each
G. Read the first question and look up the verse(s) for that question
1. Try to get the campers to find the answer themselves
2. Do not spend a lot of time explaining the verse since the object is to find the answers and go on to the next question
3. Certain words like "omnipresent" require explanation
H. Follow these steps through the entire lesson without getting "bogged down" in one place
I. Work on memorizing the verse at the end
J. If time permits allow campers to discuss the lesson and ask questions
Conclusion:
A. Recognize this as a time of sowing the Good Seed of the Word of God in camper's hearts
B. Be sensitive to how campers are reacting to what they are learning
C. Use care in discussing the topics of judgement and hell
D. Always leave the door open for further conversation on these subjects on an individual basis1. While these are Bible truths that campers need to learn they need to be handled in ways so as not to "scare" children into salvation
E. Be prepared to refer the "tough" questions to other camp leaders such as the director or speaker
