BEING A CABIN LEADER (TEACHER)

THE CABIN LEADER-TECHNIQUES IN LEADING

It is a real privilege and a very joyful experience to be a cabin leader. You are not a policeman, so try to be a pal and friend to every girl or guy. Call them by name, know their problems, make them happy and open with you. You will praise the Lord that He gave you the privilege of being the closest friend to the child while at camp.

We have set forth here a few suggestions to help you to be a cabin leader pleasing to the Lord...and also some camp rules to follow.
Proverbs 24:27 says, "Prepare your work."

PRE-CAMP PREPARATION

1) Pray for weeks in advance that God will be preparing your heart for this ministry and also preparing the hears of the boys and girls who will be entrusted to you.

2) Accept joyously your temporary role of Father or Mother—come prepared! Bring needle and thread, safety-pins, extra combs and toothbrushes, cards or scribble paper, pencils, etc. Bring Christian reading material to have available for quiet hours or rainy days, and a head full of ideas for all emergencies!

3) Plan to be at the camp at the hour appointed by the director. Cabin leaders should be on hand to welcome campers with their own "settling in" done in advance.

4) Come with a hear delivered from itself that you may be used of God to be deliverer of souls; and with a determination that for this period, you will give yourself to the Lord and then to the campers.

5) Before the children come, learn their full names and write them on a card. Have them handy and when the camper arrives, put his/her card near his/her bed.

6) Be in your cabin the first day of each camp to welcome the campers and to greet the parents.

Psalm 32:8 says, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go."
